Bringing the sexy.

As I’ve said before, nothing says “hot” like a man in a smart suit!  X3

Today Mason and I met up with our groomsmen at Derks to pick out tuxedos and get them all fitted, and let me tell you, they are going to be looking mighty fine. Mason chose a very 007 tux with an extremely sexy black pinstriped shirt, which will be paired with an ivory vest and tie; his groomsmen will be in the same except instead of ivory they’ll be wearing royal blue vests and ties to match the bridesmaids.

Humina humina~ My god, just think, if I can convince Mason to wear his glasses at the same time all of my fetishes will be answered…  The world may actually explode from the sheer amount of sexy!

Operation Prettify

In an attempt to make our little community hall reception venue look a little less drab, my mom and I paid a little trip to Special Event Rentals this afternoon to look at some stuff to spruce up the room.  We’re still waiting back to hear on a finalized quote for some of the items, but we figured out what we’re probably going to go with.

Table and chair linens: We opted for blue table cloths with brown runners down the middle of them (the head table will have a blue, draped table cloth with a brown skirt underneath.)  In addition we’re going to do brown chair covers with a little blue wraps on the back.  It’s going to look really pretty~  Just adding the linens to the tables and chairs alone will do a lot to fancy up the hall.  :3  (They tried to talk me into fancy cloth napkins too, but I was all “psssh!”  I’m no napkin snob, no sir.  Besides, you know, it’s cheaper.)

Curtained backdrop: I wanted some way to highlight the head table among the throng, so originally I was going to check out some raised staging — unfortunately foot-high staging turns out to cost a pretty penny, so instead we picked out a really nice gauzy, curtained backdrop with little twinkly light-filled pillars.  I think it’ll go nicely with all the icicle lights that will be hanging along the walls.  I’m a sucker for sparklies.

We’re also renting four big glass vases that we’ll pretty up with some colored stones and flowers of some sort to use for both the ceremony and reception.

Next up on my wedding to-do list this week?  Tuxedos!  :B  There’s no way to make a sexy man even sexier than putting him in a sexy suit!  Rawr~

Initial thoughts on tuxes and bridesmaid dresses.

So I think I’ve settled on the colors for the wedding being primarily blue with a bit of brown accents thrown in here and there.

These were the two approximate shades I’d be going for (based on the selection at Derks.)  Originally I was thinking of a much lighter blue, but Mason said he’d prefer not to be put in something really light because he’s already so pale — so I think the medium blue on the right is probably more of what I’m looking for out of the two.

(Is Derks our only good option for tuxedo rentals or are there other — preferably cheaper — places that rent nice ones with a nice selection of color to them? Derks is the only place off the top of my head that ever comes to mind.  I’ll have to do some Googling.)

Bridesmaid dresses are a bit more of an open field.  I want my ladies to all be able to buy a dress that they like and will want to use again, so I think I agree that a shorter knee-length cocktail-type is the way to go since full-length gowns don’t provide much opportunity to wear again.  As far as I’m concerned, I don’t care what style you girls each want to get for yourself as long as they’re all the same color.  I like the site dessy.com because it’s a good example of how completely different styles of dresses in the same color can still look like a matching set — feel free to take a gander through the link with the filter settings I have on it.  (I don’t think we’d actually order from an online store, but it’s good reference.)  Does anyone know if it’s relatively easy to find this type of concept in a boutique — same brand, different style, same color?

In regards to color for the bridesmaid dresses, I’m not sure how to go yet.  A similar blue to the tuxedo vests is obvious, but I think it may be too difficult tracking down three different dresses in the same shade of blue.  Another way we could do it is to buy black dresses and add matching blue accessories like sashes/belts, and flowers like this shamelessly pilfered interweb pic:

I think it looks really nice, but I can’t decide!  I need your ladies’ opinions!
