Let’s kick it up a notch, Chef Emeril style!

Some stuff that I keep meaning to make note of here on the blog but never remember to, so here’s a quick catch up list:

  • I’ve added the new link to our gift registry on the sidebar.  BAM!
  • A while ago I was discussing ideas for some sort of symbolic gesture to include in the ceremony that wasn’t sand pouring or candle lighting, and we decided that we’re going to have what’s called a “rose ceremony.”  Basically it involves firstly us giving a rose to each of our mothers as a way of showing our appreciation and respect for all they’ve done for us in our lives, and then exchanging roses between ourselves as our first gift of love in our marriage.  Very simple, very classic~  BAM!
  • I’ve had no luck so far finding a nice, affordable birdcage veil.  *Sad face*  The ones you buy in bridal boutiques are stupid expensive, and I’ve been combing through sites like kijiji and etsy instead.  My amazingly wonderful sister has volunteered to try and make me my own custom veil if I’m unable to find one online.  BAM!
  • RSVPs are slowly coming in and so far we officially have 56 guests confirmed attending, and 6 regrets.  I let out a little squee of joy every time see a new RSVP arrive and excitedly update my seating chart.  BAM!
  • If you haven’t bothered looking at your invitation yet, the official go time for the ceremony is 1:00 p.m.  The reception will follow at 4:40 p.m.  BAM!  BAM!

I think that’s all for now…  It’s so hard to believe there’s only 67 days left!  I’ve started having horrible dreams where it’s our wedding day and I realize I don’t have anything done — the halls aren’t set up, we haven’t arranged for transportation, I haven’t picked up my dress yet, we have no where to go to get our hair and makeup done…  Ugh.  Horrible dream stress and drama! :x

It’s a whole new level of real now!

Seriously, once you actually mail the invitations all of a sudden the wedding seems so much closer.  It’s like, wow, this is really happening, I’m getting married.  It’s very exciting and at the same time very stressful because it seems like there’s not enough time to finish everything in the few months you have left to organize it all.  D:  I am, however, pretty pumped to start getting RSVPs back so I can begin making seating charts~  (I am a giant nerd.  Don’t judge me.)

On the note of invitations, I really love ours~  I think they’re very pretty, and much love and thanks out to my mom (scrapbooking extraordinaire!), sister, and sister-in-law for helping me assemble them all during the Christmas holidays.  I spent an hour and a half last night stamping and sealing them.  (The concept of licking 54 envelopes was not at all appealing, so I wisely used a glue stick.)

Don’t judge them by the horrid yellow-ish coloring on these awful photos.  A stellar photographer, I am not.  :P

In conjunction to having the invites finally done, I also finished our wedsimple site too.  I’m still not huge on the ready-made template they provided for it, and the styling on certain pages makes me want to rip my hair out, but when a service comes with built-in online RSVPing and guest list organizers I suppose you can’t be too picky.

OOH OOH!  And in addition to that, our honeymoon registry is finally up and running!  I’m looking forward to our cruise so much.  *Squee!*

Bridal registries, now with 100% more honeymoon cruising.

Since Mason and I have been living together for a couple years now, we’re not really in need of things like toasters or cutlery or bath towels.  Since I don’t think we could make a whole bridal registry from some place like Sears or The Bay, we are instead creating registries for:

  1. Home Depot (for some home reno stuff we’d like to do)
  2. Our honeymoon cruise~! :D

Oh? And what’s that? Carnival Cruise Lines has it’s own bridal registry already? HOT DAMN!

I signed us up for one just to see how it works, and it’s very exciting!  You can choose gifts like limo service from the airport, an upgrade to your cabin, port outings, fancy perks while on the ship; or just contributions to chip in for the cost of the honeymoon itself and/or the air fair.  They have a sample registry to show how it works here.  I wonder if we were to get a gift like the limo service option if there’s a limit on how many people can be in the limo — it would be cool if our whole group could skip off the plane and drink some bubbleh in a limo to our hotel.  :3

As an aside, I’d like to rant that a lot of people look at me funny when I tell them that we’re going on our honeymoon with friends, but you know what? A big fat raspberry to you.  We were originally planning this as a vacation with friends anyway, it just makes sense both practically and economically to make it our honeymoon — besides, as awesome as any trip would be just the two of us, it can only be better with good friends.

I’m even more excited for the trip now then I was before!  It’s going to be amaaaaaazing~!  *Glee!*
