Let’s kick it up a notch, Chef Emeril style!

Some stuff that I keep meaning to make note of here on the blog but never remember to, so here’s a quick catch up list:

  • I’ve added the new link to our gift registry on the sidebar.  BAM!
  • A while ago I was discussing ideas for some sort of symbolic gesture to include in the ceremony that wasn’t sand pouring or candle lighting, and we decided that we’re going to have what’s called a “rose ceremony.”  Basically it involves firstly us giving a rose to each of our mothers as a way of showing our appreciation and respect for all they’ve done for us in our lives, and then exchanging roses between ourselves as our first gift of love in our marriage.  Very simple, very classic~  BAM!
  • I’ve had no luck so far finding a nice, affordable birdcage veil.  *Sad face*  The ones you buy in bridal boutiques are stupid expensive, and I’ve been combing through sites like kijiji and etsy instead.  My amazingly wonderful sister has volunteered to try and make me my own custom veil if I’m unable to find one online.  BAM!
  • RSVPs are slowly coming in and so far we officially have 56 guests confirmed attending, and 6 regrets.  I let out a little squee of joy every time see a new RSVP arrive and excitedly update my seating chart.  BAM!
  • If you haven’t bothered looking at your invitation yet, the official go time for the ceremony is 1:00 p.m.  The reception will follow at 4:40 p.m.  BAM!  BAM!

I think that’s all for now…  It’s so hard to believe there’s only 67 days left!  I’ve started having horrible dreams where it’s our wedding day and I realize I don’t have anything done — the halls aren’t set up, we haven’t arranged for transportation, I haven’t picked up my dress yet, we have no where to go to get our hair and makeup done…  Ugh.  Horrible dream stress and drama! :x

DIY Invites

Check!  I finally received the last view names from Mason’s side so our guest list stands at a potential 127 people (assorted +1′s included) — meaning that I can now calculate how many invitations we need and get them ordered.  I wanted fancy-ish pocket invites (but without the scary price) so I’m ordering some really nice do-it-yourself invitation kits from a company I found called Cards and Pockets.

They’re “Caribbean blue” with “milk chocolate brown” mattes and “cream puff” colored inserts.  I’ve already seen a sample of them and they’re going to be super cute, especially once we fancify them up with a few decorative touches~  :3

I’m debating on whether or not to take the time and do up some quick email-friendly save-the-date notices in Photoshop that we can send out right away in advance.  Do most people even still do save-the-date’s?

Day 1

First things first, need to figure out:

  1. when this is happening
  2. where it’s going to be
  3. how many people are coming

and then proceed to book a venue ASAP!  Not surprisingly, all three aspects are directly correlated with one another and form an angry, twisted triangle of dastardly cause and affect.  D:

This afternoon I’m going to start off by phoning around various places for quotes on both the low and high ends of the prospective venue spectrum to give me at least some comparative price points.  Neither of us are particularly picky about the date as long as it’s a Saturday in late April/early May of 2011, so that will probably completely depend on who has what available.

Loving parental units already proved to be wonderful and helpful and through various contacts they know, we may already have a good caterer and potential photography lined up~

  • Catering — Val?  Charges flat price plus the cost of food, not per plate thankfully which helps if we have more guests than we originally intended.  Dad is going to get in touch with her.
  • Photography — if not Ian Grant, than maybe he can recommend a good student from his class?  Looking for some potential Photoshop and touch up work to be included, though hopefully without paying a small fortune…  D:  Anyone have any good recommendations?!
