Among the usual league amenities (kitchen, stage, bar, coat room, etc) it’s newly renovated, it’s clean, and it has round tables! — all things that I’ve discovered during my venue search that very few community halls actually have. ^^; The round tables were a feature I was particularly set on. You just can’t have the same open table conversations around rectangular tables, the people at the ends always get shunned. No end-table shunning for our guests, says I!
It’s nice to finally get the reception venue settled, now I need the Citadel to get back to me on their availability.
Sorry all, this is another locked post. I’m trying not to tell many people about the music… besides it’s always better when it’s a surprise anyway! }:D
So for whatever reason Mason was under the impression that we were going to walk down the aisle to the traditional wedding march music or some sort of similar “classic” symphonic piece. D: I quickly ixnayed that thought. I hate the wedding march or any variation therein — it’s such a horrible piece of music in my opinion and oh so corny.
And so I bartered with him and in exchange for getting whatever I want as ceremony music, Mason gets free reign over the song that plays for our reception entrance. (I would be lying if I said that I’m not nervous about what he’ll end up picking… but a deal’s a deal.) *Will not be Bride-zilla WILL NOT WILL NOT*
Sooooo, my preferred song: “Can’t Take It In” by Imogen Heap.
(Click here if for whatever reason the music won’t play above.)
I’ve pretty much wanted this for the aisle music since we initially got engaged, but I didn’t tell anyone because I thought they’d think it was silly. It was one of those things where I was doing the girly daydreaming thing on the bus one morning about the big walk down the aisle and the music came on my iPod and it was perfect and made me all tingly. X3 I sort of even… *cough* have all of the timing figured out… *Sweatdrop*
So I’m thinking that our three pairs of bridal party attendants would start walking down just after the music starts, then everyone would stand up at around the 1:50 mark and I’d come in at 2:00. Then it could fade off starting at 2:50 while we did the ceremony, then start up again at 3:20ish and go till the end just as we’re finished and walking back down the aisle together! :D
You can tell that I’ve spent too much time thinking about this.

On a related note, I also really love Viva la Vida meets Love Story by Jon Schmidt (based on the song by Taylor Swift) and I think it may be nice to have that playing as the guests file in and sit down, either before the ceremony or at the reception. Either way, it’s another very pretty song that I think is very fitting~
Mason said he wanted a Star Wars stormtrooper for a wedding cake topper and I lucked out and found what are possibly the most adorable set of bride and groom appropriate stormtroopers ever. Mason wants to fashion a cute little top hat for his and maybe I can make a little veil for mine~! :B *Very excited for eBay order to arrive*
A few people have asked to see my wedding dress, so I’m making this a locked post in order to not spoil the big day reveal for the rest of the guests and obviously Mason himself. If you’d like the password, fire me a message. I may do this with a few other select blog posts in the future that I wish to share but still want kept on the down low~
Anyhoo, here’s the dress! It’s #MA-30 by Private Label by G; it’s an ivory-colored mermaid skirt with a ruched bodice and bead detailing down the side. *So much love*
They passed my screening questions with flying colors, have a great portfolio, shoot an unlimited amount of photos for the full day, do touch ups, include an engagement session, are one of the more affordable ones on my Top 10 list, aaand they come highly recommended from our family friend! A+! (Plus they didn’t piss me off at any point during the screening process. One of the other photographers I emailed was very arrogant; another broke the very golden Brenna Rule and tried to bypass the email entirely and wanted to set up a phone call. NO, I will not have a phone conversation with you until you answer my simple screening questions! Stop messing with my system! D:{ -100 points!!!)
In any event, I’ve sent a message to Scade Photography asking to meet with them to talk about booking. I’m so excited for pretty wedding photos~ *^^*
Since our ceremony and reception are looking to be fairly close together time-wise, we may have to end up doing some of the formal photos before the ceremony to avoid running out of time before the reception. (I don’t really want Mason to be able to see me in my wedding dress before the ceremony though… Maybe I can talk to the photographers and we can come with a way of doing photos of the groom and bride’s sides separately…?)
They also like to do multiple photo locations for the formals, so I’m trying to think of other (free) locales near the Citadel where we could do some shots before the ceremony. Maybe even outside if the weather is nice. Ideas?
