Mmmm... cake...Tonight was my first St. Albert Library volunteer shift upstairs shelving magazines. I know that sounds really very "big deal, so what", but it was very exciting. When you've previously spent all your time working on the main floor sorting paperbacks and DVDs the second floor feels like a significant promotion for some reason. (It's where all the big boy books live! First the hardcovers... THEN THE WORLD, MUH HA HA HA! Yeah, I don't know.) I also spoke to the volunteer coordinator regarding if there were any job openings coming down the pipeline, and apparently they may have a casual page position opening up some time soon that current volunteers will get first crack at. The hours wouldn't even really qualify as part-time, but it's still the most positive news I've received yet in my job hunt and getting in just a couple of paid hours here and there would at least put me in the running finally for when a more substantial position opens up.
This past week I've been doing some pro bono work designing a site for a LAN party startup company Mason and I are helping out with, and it's the first time I've actually enjoyed doing web design in almost two years. This is probably directly related to the fact that: a) I have 100% free reign over the whole thing and am not dealing with frustrating clients, and b) the design is centered around one particularly rad velociraptor motif. Everyone knows it's a proven fact that raptors make everything more awesome!
Other than that, I've been spending a lot of time arranging appointments for wedding related to-do's and passing any spare moment anxiously awaiting more RSVPs to come in. It's taking an excruciatingly slow time. Everyone should have received their invite by now! Why do I only have 54 replies so far? T-T Let's go, people! Don't you know there are very important seating charts to be mapped out?!
Finally, since it's become increasingly clear that my chances of scoring an entry-level library job without a proper education is not very high, I may or may not be applying back to school this fall for the Library and Information Technology program. At the very least it's been taken under serious consideration and I'm planning on attending another information session at Grant MacEwan later this month to ask some questions and smooth out some details. It's kind of exciting but also very daunting at the same time... :x More info on that once I know more.
And now... to eat cake.
Piles of squee!Lots of gleeful things this week:
I found both of the two complete seasons of Magnificent Seven on DVD on Amazon! XD I can't believe it, I'm so excited. I never even saw all the episodes when they were on TV. If I had more money to splurg with I would totally order them, but for now I'll have to settle for mooching glorious Mag7 fantabulousness off Chelle when she finally receives them in the mail some time this week~ *bounce bounce bounce*
I'm going down to the mall today to hopefully purchase a cute new pink phone. The cellphone in question being pink is very important to this excursion. According to everyone who is not me, voice mail is also a very important factor to the excursion, but for me it's mainly just to get everyone to stop hounding me to get it.
And finally, last night we had celebratory BBQ dinner in honor of me graduating from college, and my parents nearly gave me a heart attack when I opened up the card from them and found $1000.00 in it. 8D *wipes away drool* My parents are officially THE AWESOME. *love* I'm going to use it to pay back Mason's parents for my Florida tickets and then use the little left over to buy a pretty new Florida swim suit~
On the flipside of all this gleefulness, this ichiban is sadly the opposite of gleeful. I think I've eaten too much ramen while I've been working here and once more I'm loosing my taste for it. It's not my fault it's fast and easy to make and I'm lazy. . .
This weekend was James-kun's birthday party/asian BBQ at the park, full of tasty foods. I got to see some more people and old friends who I haven't seen in a long time, and that happied me. I also played street hockey yesterday with the guys. It was actually pretty fun, despite me not being in shape at all and wheezing like a chain smoker. Again, on the doomy flipside, I am now 1) covered in itchy mosquito bites, and 2) ended up getting my first sunburn of the year. >_<;
Oh yeah, I'm going to change up my hair~ I figured after five or so years it's about time to do something different with it so I'm going to start growing it a bit. *GASP* I know, freaky. I'd like to get it to my shoulders or so and the try to do something cute and flippy with it~ I found an awesome virtual hair site that I'm going to sign up for soon I think, it has the most realistic hair samples I've been able to find anywhere, they look really good~ I just have to get a photo uploaded of myself.
Countdown until Harry Potter book seven: 46 days!
ChocoliciousI don't really feel like blogging right now, there are other things I could be doing, but my blog just stares at me making me feel like I just strangled a little puppy or something. *Hides dead puppy under desk*
We played poker last night, and I got pwned. *sad face* I got myself to the final three like usual but then my pitiful chip count destroyed me and I was banished to the losers sofa where all the other jerks who went out before me totally ate all the timbits. Every last one. *very very sad* I also went to the craft sale with Chelle and Mom yesterday at the Butterdome. It's probably in my best interests to not attend another spring craft show because I could easily spend a ridiculous amount of money there. . .as I just did. . . :x My grand purchase was a very pretty painting of a lady, and then when you open it up there's a jewelry box hidden behind it where I can hang all my necklaces and rings and assorted bling~ I love it, despite that I have no where to put it until I move out and that it cost me a stupidly enormous amount of money. . . No more spending for me, I have to finish saving for Florida! >_<;
I saw Spiderman 3! And. . .it was. . .bad. Really bad, actually. Color me disappointed with the complete lack of plot and Venom screen time. Venom's supposed to be Spidey's arch nemesis. . .es. . .ees. . . and he's on screen for like twenty minutes before he gets blown up. I think it's also a bad sign when everyone in the theatre is laughing at the best friend's death scene. You fail, Hollywood. *Takes away gold star*
Our grad party was last Friday at Barwild on Whyte and I may have gotten just a little drunk. Maybe. Just a tad. I blame it completely on Mandi and Liz buying me tasty fruity drinks. Not that I'm saying it was shirt-off-vomiting-in-the-corner drunk, but I had to concentrate really hard on not being sick on the ride home on Groat Road. For someone who doesn't hardly drinks at all and weighs 115lbs, two highballs and two shots in the course of an hour and a half or so will do the trick. On a side note, however, candy apple highballs are very tasty. On another side note, kraft dinner and lots and lots of water are also extremely tasty when you get home afterwards.
So I gave D&D another chance, and now that I actually know what I'm doing and each round doesn't take thirty minutes, it's a lot of geeky fun actually. I have a very badass ninja kitty (Mason couldn't find a level one feline class to give me, so technically I'm an elf that just looks like a kitty because my elf mother got gangbanged in the forest before I was born by a pack of wild jungle kitties. I always find loopholes.) I'm going to make my game piece out of shrink art~ Oh, my cute little Neko Shinobi, you will be so awesome~
Mason downloaded an emulator or rom or whatever it's called of the old Super NES game, Pocky and Rocky for me! We used to play it all the time when were kids and fight over who would be the cute raccoon with the swishy tail~ We just need some controllers to hook up to his PC and we'll kick some NES ass. *Glee*
Happy Mom day to all the splendid mom's out there~ (Get your own awesome Mom's though, you can't have mine~)

Horribly bitter towards Mother NatureAll right, enough of this silliness, I want spring to come. Yes, it's remarkably warm as so far as the days go where there's still snow on the ground; but begone with this pretense! I want to frolic down the lane wearing my pretty skirts, I want to go to Marble Slab for ice cream, I want to stop waking up to below freezing temperatures in the early morning. And perhaps a picnic this year. I know I say I want to go on a picnic every spring and it never happens, but damnit this year it WILL. *Heavy sigh* *Pouts at the snow drift still on the front lawn*
One more month until the official end of my college practicum~ This will be cause for celebration due to the fact that it signals the beginning of being rewarded in the form of actually reasonable monetary gratification. I am so over with being poor. It is lame. I have declared it so. At this point I have a couple different options open to me (which Chelle is assuring me is a good thing and is very exciting and not at all scary) and besides, which ever way I end up flopping my way over to like a fish out of water will fill my change purse once more. I'm hoping that by the end of the summer I'll have enough money saved up again to move out of the house~ *SO EXCITED*
MCR is coming to Edmonton in March and Mason bought me tickets for my birthday~ I loveth my Mason~ ♥ We're on the floor, but seeing that it's going to be full of teenage girls and emo boys I figure I can hold my own and lay down a little pushing and shoving of my own while not getting flattened.
I have discovered the tasty taste explosion that are Bear Paw cookies. Chocolate and banana flavor to be precise. They are children's cookies but I can't lie and say that I am not ensnared in the deliciousness of their soft and chewy, bear-paw shaped cookie hides. ♥
Chelle and I saw Music and Lyrics this week, and it was filled with adorably awkward Hugh Grant fluff, 80's music video dancing, and a grand gesture for the finale as all chick flicks must have. It filled me with joy.
"That’s wonderfully sensitive. . especially from a man who wears such tight pants."
"It forces all the blood to my heart."
LAWL.
*Flails hands* Dad just said we can order Swiss Chalet for dinner~! La la la la la la la la. *Flail flail flail* Hmm, under 55 minutes or it's free. ¬_¬ *Switches all of the street signs*
Countdown until Harry Potter book seven: 118 days!
Happeeeeeeeeeee!I am sitting in the final class of the year right now and I have nothing to do. I am done all of my projects. I am done all work that demands to be done. *EXPLOSIONS OF JOY* XD
No more homework! Ever! I can get a 9 - 5 job and come home and have my evenings and weekends! Of course, in that plan I actually have a 9 - 5 job. . .in reality it's still a work in progress. I'm going to the second intervew at a place in Edmonton today which hopefully pays or else I'll have to walk away. *Very sad sad thought, especially since it's so close to Chelley-poo's house. Location, location!*
I wish I would have been not-stupid and brought some lunch with me today. My stomach is making angry, bitter noises like a hobo denied spare change. Buying lunch will enivitably happen, but much to my angry bitterness since I'm very short in that area as of late due to stupid car payments and splendid iMacs of love. *Money flies away into the heavens* *Tummy continues to gurgle* ;_;
Mason and I are having our Christmas tonight simply because we wish to~! I already gave him his tree ornament and it hangs all shiny and sparkly on the front of his tiny tree~ *joy* OOH! We need to buy a gingerbread house!
Blogger is harrassing me to sign up for their new Google accounts. . . I'm not sure if I trust their promise that in doing so won't shit around with my blog. I'M ON TO YOU, BLOGGER/GOOGLE TEAM OF DOOM! T_T Or it's remotely possible I'm just paranoid.
*Tummy gurgles take over Brenna's body and become a being of their own, chase her down and smother her until she admits defeat and digs out her remaining change from her purse*
Food now.
TiredI get my life back in two days. Or at least I hope I do. School ends on Wednesday, omgTHANKGOD. I despise the feeling of coming home to homework. I am so ready for a regular old 9 - 5 work day and a free evening. I've had four interviews this past week for practicum jobs, and I'm waiting back on two of them in particular. I'll basically settle for anything that pays that's not on the south side. Unless it like. . .involves. . .ninjas. Or something equally cool. No one mentioned anything about ninjas in the interviews though. *sigh*
I'm actually ready for Christmas this year, which is to say the least, surprising; especially considering last year's go-down-to-Whyte-and-buy-every-gift-two-days-before fiasco. Despite that I had very little money for buying cool presents this year, I'm looking forward to this holiday. OOH. Did I mention by chance that I do believe Sobeys will be closed on Boxing Day? Hmmm~ Fa la la la la, la la la laaaa~!
Hmm. I've just suddenly realized that our much anticipated friend-Christmas-potluck-of-fun has not been planned at all, yet alone have a definitive date set. We are running out of days to potluck it up, people. . . . . . . :x
For all of you out there wondering, yes, my new iMac is indeed the most wonderful computer in the world. You may go ahead and show your envy and awe before it. It will sit for pictures and autographs if you ask nicely. *Glitter shine shine sparkle*
