RestlessI'm an idiot. (Again.) Not for the same reason, but just as equally stupid.
Yesterday in an attempt to wake myself up and ease the restlessness that comes with sitting in a computer chair for 8+ hours a day, I went over to the mall on my lunch break to treat myself to some much-needed belated birthday shopping with the shiny Smart Set gift certificate my parents gave me.
So I walk into the store and just started piling clothes on my arm to try on. (I'm a glutton when it comes to free stuff.) I find several pieces I really love and fit me well so I come out of the changing room all excited and I'm waiting in the line to pay, just sort of looking around, and all of a sudden I realize I'M NOT IN SMART SET.
I'M IN SUZY SHIER. Which I most definitely do not have a big gift card for. D: I walked into the wrong effing store and I didn't even realize it while I was collecting all the sweet clothes and trying them on. (You would think all of the clothing tags and giant SUZY SHIER SALE signs would have tipped me off earlier. No such luck.)
So then I spend five minutes tortuously trying to decide whether to throw all the new pretties I found back *SOB*, or just suck it up and pay some splurge money which I really should be saving for house buying in the near future (more on this further down.) I ended up leaving feeling very guilty with $130 worth of new clothes.
*Shame cloud of guilt* It's the first splurge purchase I've made in a long time, Mason says I shouldn't feel guilty about it. *Love* At least I still have $75 more worth of actual free gift card money to spend frivolously. I'll be sure to actually walk in the right store this time.
More news, this time of the non-deprecating kind. We finished saving our down payment money early! We can start phoning around and looking at open houses! OMG!!! (Extra exclamation points illustrate my excitement~) I am so excited, I've been searching on mls.ca and I've found a dozen I want to make some phone calls to! HOUSES. ACTUAL HOUSES. Houses that could be MINE. X3 They're currently all in the North West-ish bit of Edmonton (yes, I caved and sectioned out a tiny quadrant of Edmonton in which I will actually live) but that's okay because the area is super close to St. Albert still. And it's cheaper. Sooooo much cheaper. More updates on house hunting as it develops~
Ugh, and a new Buffy the Vampire Slayer feature relaunch? Only you know, not with Joss Whedon... or any of Joss' characters... and therefor probably crap. Say it not so. D:
You're actually contemplating moving into the City of Violence? Goodness gracious! Well, at least it's not the Vortex of Crime that is Mill Woods...
Brenna, I really like your blog : )
Hahaha, my blog says thank you, Sarah. It strives to please.
@Aaron: my blog likes to mark your comments as spam for some reason. Hopefully this should be fixed now. ^^;
But yes, I finally drew a tiny square of the part of safe, clean-ish Edmonton closest to St. Albert that I will let myself move to. Pretty much anything from the corner of St. Albert and no further than Castle Downs Rd. and the Yellowhead.
Why would you want to stay near St. Albert? It's far from everything. Edmonton isn't. You should strive to live in Edmonton. Considerably cheaper as well. For the record, if you do own a house, I will frequently be assaulting it with things. For the record.
In RE: Your Suzy Shier/Smart Set mixup; they both have the same initials. You were blinded by free things. It's a perfectly acceptable mistake, and We do not think less of you for it. The royal We.
Edmonton is big and smelly and violent compared to St. Albert. I love my little slice of suburbia and will be very sad to leave it, especially since most of my friends and family live there (hence the priority to stay as close to St. Albert as possible.) But yes, Edmonton is definitely cheaper. Which makes it... doable.
Thank you for your understanding. *HUGS PRETTY CLOTHES* Further in my defense, they're both in the same little section of the mall. I went to the right when I should have went to the left.
smart set and suzy shier look alike.....i can see myself doing the same thing, haha. the only difference is that i find the quality of the clothes at smart set are a bit better. a splurge is always good though!!
and yeah, up north of edmonton (just below that area of st albert where the rec centre sits) is basically just like st albert.... i lived in the new part of the oxford neighborhood and it felt like i had never left the suburbs. edmonton is wonderful. and hey.....i live downtown and i still see everyone (friend wise....and family wise) pretty frequently!
also, whenever i see the "Sarah from Nexopia" i always get super confused. i always like to think of myself as the only sarah on nexopia ;) (i'm a queen like that... i know).
but anyway, i am happy for your house buying. and your new clothes. hurray!
oh and also, i disapprove of this so called buffy relaunch. frown lines are forming on my face as i type this.
Yeah, and if I score a nice house somewhere nearish 137th, then I'm still close to pretty much any store I'd need to go to on a daily basis. I can just pretend that I still live in the suburbs~
You and the other Sarah W should duke it out! Jello fight! Aaaaaaaand... GO.
And yes, this silly BtVS movie is just... wrong. I don't understand why they'd want to make another film after the first one did so bad -- much less make this one with different characters and stories than what the Buffy fandom has come to love so much through the seven seasons of Joss' Buffy. D:
It's amusing, because I knew everything in your Post of Substance. Ah well. It was fun to read anyway!
Also: Edmonton is cool. NOT smelly, and the area you'll be moving to is certainly not violent. *pats* When I get home I will figure out what neighborhoods are in that area and send you the crime stats, if there even are any. I downloaded ths PDF to compare my neighborhood to the neighborhoods I was looking at apartments in earlier in May. It was very helpful.
Oooh~ I'd very much like that.
*Blanches in horror when sweet sister sends over crime stats that say Brenna will be looking for houses in area infamous for raping of young women, murdering of young men, and eating of innocent pet bunnies.*
