I am sad to announce that I am a little on the unemployed side right now. Last Friday I was laid off from my job downtown, so I'm starting into my second week of depressing jobless-ness. I am also starting into my angst-filled second week of trying to get my new web portfolio to work in Internet Explorer, which I think we all know by now should really just be classified as a wasted effort. =_=; In any event, I'm adamantly chasing a job that I really want, and have wanted for quite a long time now, and am very slowly going into my second week of
crazy because I still don't know if I'm being hired or not.
Hopefully none of the above will painfully bleed into a third week. We're keeping our fingers crossed. *so much sadness*
Last week Amanda and I had a splendid girly movie night filled with chocolate cake and squealfully cute Audrey Hepburn movies. I'd never seen any Hepburn movies and have since decided that both
Breakfast at Tiffany's and
Roman Holiday are both freaking adorable. I have also since decided that people need to start saying "darling!" with the Audrey accent because it just makes everything that much better~
Camping is coming up this weekend! I get to use my shiny new tent! More distractions from depressing job hunting! YAY!
And the first peak at the upcoming
Clone Wars series in CG. Grievous! *glee* Asajj! *glee, but to a lesser extent because she's not as cool* Did I mention again, Grievous! *much more glee*
*Has an inkling to draw more fan art now but has no time because of angsty IE portfolio problems* DAMN YOU, BILL GATES! *throws sharks with eye lasers at you*
But hey, look, on the upside of it all I finally have a suitable reason to use the Toby avatar. Oh Toby, we *heart* you.
Countdown until Harry Potter book seven: OMG, only
32 days!
I am jealous of all your free.
I am not jealous of being laid off and having no job.
Well the last week I really haven't had any more free time than I had when I was working. I've basically been waking up at 8 and working on my web portfolio from then until dinner. I guess I may be watching a couple episodes of Sex and the City during lunch tho. . . *shifty eyes*
Even though I know you probably don't want it, I can definitely put in a recommendation for you at Telus. The job is easy and the money is good but you'll feel your soul exit your body just a little more every day.
Is Telus reeeally that bad?
Not reeeally, I really like Telus actually. I like my co-workers and I like that Telus tries to woo us with free food (this week they gave us italian snadwiches and on friday we get a bottle of water and some pizza)
Your portfolio is really fancy Brenna! I'm full of envy for your talent. I'm jealous of your current blog layout too. I heart buddha and the lotus sutra, as well as chocolate! I didn't see if this layout was in your portfolio, but if it isn't, I think you should add it!
lol, well considering my complete hatred of telephones and talking to people on them, I don't think I'd ever take a job at Telus unless they needed a website person~
And thanks! That site took me waaay longer then it should have. Internet Explorer eats my soul and destroys every webpage that touches it. ;_; I had to pretty much redo the entire thing just to make it work on IE.
So, why don't you start working to make things in IE first, and then figure it out in Mac later? Because it's the same thing every time.
"Internet Exploder sucks sucks sucks and I had to completely redesign my page just to make it work"
Would that solve your conundrum>
My problem there is that Microsoft stopped making new versions of IE for Macs years ago so I don't have something current to work with. Checking the site back and forth on the PC and coding it on the Mac is a pain in the ass, plus even if I did my PC is old and doesn't have the current versions either. It's just all around lame.
